Susan and Ron Mortensen 15.7.25

> Dear Margrit and Katrin > > > I want you to know that so far retirement for me is going very well. I still help with a little bit, like paying bills and taxes for the business we still have. But I also have time for the garden, cooking, etc. Ron is still working some, but not full time. We think he will gradually reduce his work so that in two years or so, he is done. It is nice that we do not have to go to the office and we do not worry about the markets and the crops as much as we used to. It is more relaxing. > > > > This summer we have spent about half our time in our lake house in Wisconsin. We see Karen, Rafal, Kaia (6 years old) and Alia (3 years old) many times on the weekends. We also had a lovely vacation with them in March when we went to Hawaii. This was Ron and Susan’s treat to celebrate our retirement! We were 7 days in Waikiki on Oahu. Then Karen and her family had to return to Chicago. Ron and I went for 5 days to a resort in Maui and had a very relaxing time. > > > > We will make a trip to Scandinavia in August. August 20 to September 7. We start in Stockholm and then go to the area in southern Sweden, Smaland, which is the homeland of Ron’s mother. We even know how to find the family home! We will then go west to stay with a Swedish farmer friend who has travelled to the United States the past two years. We have seen him at meetings in Nashville. We travel to Goteborg, then Copenhagen, then Oslo. We finish with a ride on the Bergen Line from Oslo to Bergen. There we hope to visit a woman Karen has known since they were babies. She lives in Bergen with her partner and their two daughters. I think we will also enjoy a boat ride on a fjord! > > > > We are doing well and have been in good health. I want you to know that right before Christmas, Ron had his prostate removed, as there was a small tumor. It was not in a good place for radiation and so Ron decided to have the surgery. I think he is doing well. He is very happy that the doctor was able to remove all the cancer and his PSA is zero. > > > > We hope you can write back and let us know the news from Wettingen. If you want to talk to us on Facetime, perhaps we should plan a day and time to call. > > > > All the best from USA! > > Ron and Susan > > > >
